Wyden Makes Last Ditch Effort to get Congress to Debate Expanding the FBI's Hacking Authority
Nov. 30, 2016 - Senator Ron Wyden (D-Ore.) made a last-ditch effort to delay broad new government hacking authority that is now set to go into effect on Dec. 1. Senator Wyden, Coons, and Daines gave Congress three separate chances to stop or delay this dangerous change the expands the FBI's hacking authority to encompass potentially millions of Americans' devices without an individualized warrant. Each time a Republican senator objected to delaying to give the Congress time to even hold a hearing on this policy change.
